Maybe I'm a snob, but I don't think Southwest Airlines is for me. The whole no assigned seats thing stresses me out. I don't like the uncertainty of not knowing where I'm going. I don't like the pressure of having to guess who might be an acceptable seat neighbor. I really, really don't like not knowing for sure that I will have a window seat. I just want the airline to tell me where to sit, after allowing me to note my preference for a window seat.
I stress out enough about flying. While some in my family (Dad) claim to enjoy the "process" of traveling, I do not. I may like my destination, but getting there makes me cranky. Southwest's system only increases my crankiness. I don't think I will fly them again.

I am the same way. I detest cattle-call seating, and it's not Snobbery. It's stress. These days, though, I don't fly, period. I find it humiliating to stand in a bigass line, handing over my shoes, reducing my cosmetics and HBA's to miniscule amounts, being wanded, patted, Xrayed, etc. Makes me feel like I'm being processed for life in lockup. Forget it. And I get to PAY FOR THE PRIVILEGE? No.
What they need to do is charge for carryon bags and not checked bags. It would make all the lines shorter, loading and unloading flights shorter, etc.
Obviously this does not apply to SW as they supposedly don't charge for bags (they do - they just dont have a separate charge - they just raise plane fare).
But I've never had a great experience with SW. I flew them all the time when I lived in Lubbock (and was younger and not as picky - couldn't be really, I wasn't buying the ticket!).
ANyway - that's my two cents.
Hope your arm is okay!
I really shouldn't complain as this was a free ticket, so I really didn't pay for my suitcase. And I did get a window seat on the way out. May I be so lucky on the way home!
